Protesters in Kathmandu shouted slogans against China on Monday due to China's increasing interference in Nepal. The protesters had banners and posters against China. These posters sought to stop Chinese interference in Nepal. Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Guo Yeozo is in Kathmandu. He will try to strike a reconciliation between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Prachanda, both opposing factions of the Nepal Communist Party.
The top party of the Chinese Communist Party reached Kathmandu on Sunday. Its purpose is to prevent division at any cost by harmonizing between Prachanda and Oli in the ruling Communist Party. People associated with the ruling NCP have confirmed the arrival of the Chinese delegation. China's move is being seen by Beijing as an attempt to assess the ground situation. Vishnu Rijal, deputy head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Prachanda faction of NCP, said that the Chinese side had talked to him about the visit to Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, in the declining political developments in Nepal, the government led by Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has recommended the President to convene a cold session of the Upper House of Parliament on 1 January. The move comes a week after President Vidya Devi dissolved the lower house of parliament. In fact, the Nepal Communist Party was born in the year 2018 due to the merger of CPI-UML led by Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) led CPN-Maoist.
